About ‘Roots Undone’

Hi everyone,
I’ve decided to create this blog due to the controversy behind ‘black’ hair and how it’s viewed among people. Growing up I would hear members of the black community talking about ‘good hair’ , ‘bad hair’ and that “black people hair doesn’t grow long” but as I went on my natural/healthy hair journey and learnt more about correctly caring for curly, coily and kinky hair, these ignorant and uneducated beliefs annoyed me, mainly because it seemed that black people were subconsciously supporting a self hating ‘the lighter the skin tone and less afro kinky haired a black person is, the prettier they are’ belief.
“Divide blacks by skin tone and you’ll control them for 300+ years” – William Lynch 1712.  I feel that this can also apply to the ‘good hair texture’, ‘bad hair texture’ opinions that many black people have.
Throughout this blog I will be giving tips and advice on caring for natural hair that I’ve learnt over the past 4 years and now and again speaking on racial social problems in the world.

Feel free to email @rootsundonehair.gmail.com with any questions or blog post suggestions and follow @RootsUndone on instagram for daily natural hair inspiration and care tips.
