• Deep Treatment Masque

My first experience of the Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Deep Treatment Masque is that it’s not for me. When I first applied the masque to my hair in sections it melted into my hair like butter, defined my coils and curls and felt really moisturising. However, when I washed this product out my hair felt dry, stripped and straw-like. Originally I thought that this may be due to protein in the deep treatment masque as my hair is protein sensitive but I didn’t recognise any proteins in the ingredient list?

• Conditioning Co-Wash

The Cantu for Natural Hair conditioner wash has a nice creamy consistency and felt moisturising, but like with the masque, this only lasted until I washed it out. My hair was left feeling clean but not moisturised at all and straw like. Conditioner washing is a healthier alternative to using shampoo’s as many shampoo’s contain harsh ingredients that strip our hair making it dry, however not every product works for everyone as everyone’s hair likes and dislikes different ingredients.

I’ll be sticking to my Aunt Jackies In Control to co-wash and deep condition for now, although I might try these cantu products again once I big chop and my relaxed ends are gone.
