  • Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Complete Conditioning Co-Wash. Co-washing (conditioner washing) is healthier for our hair as it prevents our hair from getting dried out by the harsh and stripping chemicals that are in many shampoo’s. I usually use Aunt Jackies In Control to co-wash but it contains silicones so I thought I’d try Cantu’s one which doesn’t.

(Silicones are ingredients that cling to your hair creating shine and reducing frizz, but they can also weigh down fine hair making it look and/or feel greasy. Silicones may also prevent moisture from entering your hair strands if they aren’t washed out using clarifying products such as shampoos containing harsh chemicals like sulfates regularly.)

  • Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Deep Treatment Masque as I got a weave for my 18th birtday and the stylist heat damaged my leave out bone straight :|.  The only true way to get rid of heat damage is to cut the damage off but I guess there’s no harm in using a deep treatment.

(A lot of Cantu’s products are free from cheap, synthetic ingredients such as sulfates, silicones, mineral oil and parabens)

  • Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner. Cheapy conditioners are great to apply to our dry hair as a pre poo (pre shampoo treatment) before we wash our hair as they act as an extra barrier between our hair and the harsh chemicals in shampoos. You can mix your conditioner with a natural oil of your choice for added benefits, I’ll probably mix mine with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

  • My trusty ORS Olive Oil Edge Control. This is the only thing that’ll keep my edges laid all day. For extra hold, sometimes I’ll use some Eco Styler Gel on top. Eco Styler gel is more gentle on our hair as it doens’t contain drying ingredients such as alchohols that many other gels use preventing breakage.
